Commis Chefs

About the Position:

We are looking to employ Commis Chefs with a can-do attitude to work at various hotels and conference centres.


  • Matric
  • Diploma in Professional Cookery
  • South African ID
  • Clear Criminal record
  • Minimum of 6 months to 1-year experience in a reputable hotel, resort or conference centre
  • Ability to work shift and on weekends

Duties and Responsibilities (including but not limited to):

  • The commis chef must perform many basic tasks of food preparation and organization in the kitchen
  • Effectively communicate with other members of the kitchen staff
  • Maintaining high standards of hygiene
  • Preparing the ingredients for a more senior chef
  • Measuring dish ingredients and portion sizes accurately
  • Dealing with deliveries and stock rotation
